Tamara Hoffman (Ballet Levels 5-7)

Tamara was born in Rochester, Minnesota and trained at numerous schools before completing her training at Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet professional division. Tamara then danced with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and Ballet du Nord in France. In her 18-year career, she danced a wide variety of repertoire, including one of her favorite lead roles, Maria in John Neumier’s Nutcracker. Tamara toured extensively throughout her career, dancing in Asia, Europe, and South America, averaging 150 shows per year.

Tamara retired as a soloist from the Royal Winnipeg Ballet in 1998. 

Tamara then joined Ballet Memphis as Ballet Mistress in 1999. As ballet mistress she staged many works for Ballet Memphis including Swan Lake, Giselle, and Mark Godden’s Angels in the Architecture. During her 21 years as Ballet Mistress/Senior Ballet Mistress, she founded and directed the Ballet Memphis pilates program. Tamara is also a STOTT Pilates certified instructor and instructor trainer. She established the Pilates Centre Licensed training and certification centre, awarded to her by Merrithew Health and Fitness in Toronto.

Tamara is excited to be starting a new chapter guest teaching and coaching with New Ballet Ensemble and School, specializing in the pre-professional level. She is also starting a new pilates program partnering with Rehab etc. Tamara is interested in cross training and wellness programs, including working with dancers and clients with Scoliosis, having dealt with her own Scoliosis throughout her career. She is also passionate about keeping people of all ages moving and healthy, including active aging programming.
