Tomisha Edwards (Teaching and Performing Artist Ballet, Modern, Composition and African Dance)

Tomisha Edwards teaches Creative Movment, Pre-Ballet 1, Pre-Ballet 2, Ballet Level 1, Ballet Level 2, and Ballet Level 6 Year 1 Modern. She is a native Memphian, and is a graduate of Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, where she majored in Dance and minored in Rhetoric. She has more than 16 years of dance experience and 8 years of teaching experience. She is trained in Modern and West African dance, and has fused the two styles into her own brand of Afro-Modern dance. Tomisha is also a dance filmmaker, having choreographed, filmed, produced, and edited several short films over the past few years. 

Since graduating in 2015, she has gone on to choreograph 4 musicals, including "Once on this Island" at Hutchison School and "Crowns" at Hattiloo Theatre, both in Memphis TN. She has also performed with Bridging Souls Productions (Memphis, TN), Hattiloo Theater (Memphis, TN), Out Loud Artistry (Homestead, Florida), and more recently with New Ballet Ensemble and School.

She is a firm believer that it is the artist's job to make a positive impact on the world around them. She works to accomplish this goal through the work that she produces and the classes that she teaches. She believes that there is no greater way to make an impact than by helping those who will one day run the world!
