The goal of New Ballet Ensemble and School is to ensure equal access to ballet is given to all children regardless of ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.

Today, 37% of the students in Ballet 1 - 7 classes at New Ballet are on scholarship. Scholarships are made possible through monetary contributions from individuals, foundations and corporations. At this time scholarships are not available for community classes (beginning teen, adult ballet and hip hop classes) or for students enrolled in Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet classes.

New Ballet scholarship students are incorporated into the core curriculum and perform in mainstage productions. ALL students at New Ballet are given equal opportunities to learn and perform.

Scholarships are awarded annually with preference given to returning students. To obtain a scholarship application, please contact us (frontdesk@newballet.org).

New Ballet incorporates bridge-building exercises into the school curriculum in an effort to facilitate positive cross-cultural learning experiences for the students through the Align Mentor Program at NBE.

Eligibility requirements include: Child qualifies for free or reduced lunch, family income falls below the median income level in TN, student must attend a scheduled audition with Ms. Smythe, applicant must meet with the scholarship committee.

Please contact New Ballet at 901.726.9225 for more information. Please note that currently scholarships are not available for students enrolled in Creative Movement, Pre Ballet, Hip Hop or Tap/Jazz classes. Scholarships are available for Ballet 1 - 7 class levels.

New Ballet is a non-profit organization that has a fund raising arm, funding both Program, Scholarships and Performances. Contributions are received from individuals, foundations and corporations and designated to the scholarship fund. New Ballet makes every attempt to fund scholarship requests to deserving students but often has a waiting list of applicants. Tuition dollars do not fund scholarships.

If you are interested in contributing to the scholarship fund, please contact Carrie Pohlman Vaughan, 90.726.9225 ext 224 or email carrie@newballet.org
