Repertoire
Works performed by New Ballet Ensemble include, Lamentation and Serenata Morsica by Martha Graham; Pulsations to Life by Blakeley White McGuire (Graham Principal), Torelli by Twyla Tharp, Yendo, by Noelia Garcia Carmona; FIRE by Uri Sands and Carmina Burana (Fortuna Imperatrix) by Chris Roberts. New for 2010, Fearless Mine by Francesca Harper and Howl my Maxx Reed. Annual performances of Nut ReMix (an Urban Tale) are presented at the beautiful Germantown Performing Arts Center.
Educational performances include, Peter and the Wolf, Hip Hop to Africa: the Roots of Urban Dance, Three Shoes and Bare Feet and Carnival of the Animals (including the Hip Hop Swan).
FIRE by Uri Sands - Toni and Uri Sands founded TU Dance, a Minnesota-based company that draws on a broad range of traditions from contemporary ballet to modern forms. Their work is a blend of high physicality and fine technique. Both have performed with the Alvin Ailey Dance company and have garnered many accolades and awards, including a McKnight fellowship, an artist of the year from the Star Tribune, and one of the 25 to watch by Dance Magazine. As a young teen, Uri resided in Memphis, training at Ballet Tennessee. New Ballet Director, Katie Smythe, danced with Ms. Sands at the Minnesota Dance Theater.

Kevin Thomas, a former Principal with Dance Theater of Harlem, is the Director of Collage Dance Collective, Memphis, TN.
Blakeley McGuire's Pulsations to Life. Ms. McGuire is a Principal dancer with the Martha Graham Company and was recently awarded the Dancer of the Year award for continental Europe. Watch an interview with Mc. McGuire at New Ballet Ensemble here.
