Senior Spotlight: Caroline Irmscher

Caroline has been dancing since she was 2 years old, and she hasn’t stopped since! She has been with New Ballet for 6 years, and her favorite dance styles are Ballet and Modern. Caroline will be attending Elon University in the fall and intends to double major in Dance Performance and Choreography and Communication Design.

Q: What advice would you give to a young dancer?

A: They say "practice makes perfect" but there's no such thing as a perfect dancer. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. Don't let other dancers' strengths that you might not have bring you down. Instead, use others' strengths as motivation for yourself to work harder and try to be the best dancer that you can be! There is always someone looking up to you for motivation!

Q: What is your favorite memory at New Ballet?

A: It's hard to just pick one! I loved being Clara in NutRemix this past year. I was exposed to many different styles of dance, which was so much fun! Additionally, I have enjoyed all of the guest artists who have come to New Ballet throughout my years here as well as the summer intensives.

Q: Why is New Ballet special to you?

A: New Ballet has given me a second family along with great training. I have had experiences with amazing choreographers and guest artists that I have always looked up to, and I have been given many opportunities that I never thought I would get to experience, such as mentoring, assisting, and even traveling to Italy. Throughout all of these experiences, I have been able to build such close relationships with some of my best friends. I will miss my NBE family so deeply next year, but I know that it will forever be my second home to come back to.
