NBE Takes Students on Trip to NYC to visit Colleges!

11 students accompanied by NBE Staff and Teaching Artists were able to get an in depth tour of New York City area universities and dance programs - The Juilliard School, New York University and the Tisch School of the Arts, SUNY Purchase, Fordham University and the Alvin Ailey B.F.A program, Columbia University and Marymount Manhattan College! Students were able to meet with admissions staff, meet current students and observe classes.

Additionally, students were able to engage in several different dance initiatives such as dance classes at Steps on Broadway, a Master Horton Class at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, watching a rehearsal at the Martha Graham Studio and seeing New York City Ballet perform Tchaikovsky and Balanchine at Lincoln Center!

Our NYC local NBE alumnae were able to join our students and share with them their experiences in the city and at the different programs. The opportunity for our students to engage in this shared experience with their peers was invaluable and it has led them to a better understanding of what it will take to apply to any college program - whether they are pursuing dance in Higher Education or not!
