Nokomis started dancing when she was 1 year old, and has been with NBE for 12 years! She started out as one of our first students in our Dunbar Elementary satellite program, and then came to NBE full time. Her favorite styles of dance are Flamenco, Hip Hop, and Jazz. Nokomis has accepted a full scholarship to Christian Brothers University and intends to major in nursing so that she can ...
India has been dancing for 10 years, and has spent the past 5 years with NBE. Her favorite style of dance is Ballet. India will be attending Marymount Manhattan College in the fall and intends to study dance.
Liv has been dancing with NBE for 12 years. Her favorite style of dance is Contemporary. After graduation, Liv intends to take a gap year in Paris to learn French and immerse herself in a new culture.
Caroline has been dancing since she was 2 years old, and she hasn’t stopped since! She has been with New Ballet for 6 years, and her favorite dance styles are Ballet and Modern. Caroline will be attending Elon University in the fall and intends to double major in Dance Performance and Choreography and Communication Design.
Jeremy has been dancing for the past 10 years, and has spent the past 2 years with New Ballet. His favorite style of dance is Memphis Jookin. Jeremy intends to study dance and writing in college.
Asya has been dancing for 12 years with New Ballet Ensemble. She started out as one of our first students in our Dunbar Elementary satellite program, and then came to NBE full time. Her favorite style of dance is Contemporary. Asya has accepted a full scholarship to Vanderbilt University, and she intends to become a speech pathologist and potentially an activist for those with autism.
Precious has danced for 12 years with New Ballet. Similarly to Asya, Precious was one of our first students at our Dunbar Elementary satellite program and then came to NBE full time. Her favorite style of dance is Ballet. Precious has accepted a full scholarship to attend Xavier University and intends to major in biology.
We are saddened to inform you of the loss of Dr. Mel A. Tomlinson who journeyed to Memphis to perform in Nut Remix 2018, his last turn on the stage with the children who looked up to him as a mentor and hero.
