Mandy Possel (Creative Movement, Ballet and Modern)
Mandy is a free spirit who was raised in Memphis, but was born in Kettering, Ohio. Mandy began her study of dance at the Cincinnati Ballet, Lafayette Ballet and continued at the Ballet Memphis school. She has studied with Gladys Bailin, Travis Gatling, Mickie Geller, Holly Lau, Sandra Peticolis, Madeline Scott and Marina Gobins Walchli.
Mandy graduated with a BFA in Dance from Ohio University and is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa and Gamma Beta Phi. She is fondly known as “the duck” by grade school children across Memphis for her popular performance in Peter and the Wolf andhas appeared with the New Ballet Ensemble in FIRE by Uri Sands, Fearless Mine by Francesca Harper and the Nut ReMix as Mother Ginger and in the Arabian and Mirlitons Divertissements.
Leading the Creative Movement program at New Ballet, "Miss Mandy" uses the Brain Dance by Anne Greene Gilbert with her classes and students ages 3-6. A Modern Dance major,she brings a Modern sensibility to the classroom where creativity and imagination flourishin a playful but structured environment. She has taught at the Bright Horizons program for three yearsand has plans to pursue her PhD in Dance Education beginning in 2012.
