Faculty

Sandy began training in her native Memphis. She was awarded scholarships to Banff School of the Fine Arts, School of American Ballet in New York, Craft of Choreography Conference, and University of Cincinnati College/Conservatory of Music where, as a freshman, she became a dancer with Cincinnati Ballet Company. Her professional experience also includes Maryland Ballet, Memphis Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet and Ballet Oregon where she also served as a Rehearsal Director. Along with her ballet company experiences, she has performed in numerous operas and musicals including a season with Opryland USA. In addition, acting as Executrix of the Dennis Spaight Choreographic Trust, she has restaged numerous ballets including Bruce Mark’s Larke Ascending, Val Caniparoli's Street Songs, and Agnes DeMille’s Rodeo. For eight years she was Education Services Coordinator for Oregon Ballet Theatre and an instructor at Reed College. Since returning to Memphis in 1997, Sandy has been Ballet Instructor at Rhodes College, Artist in the School for Memphis Arts Council, Guest Artist and Outreach Instructor for Ballet Memphis, and on the faculty at Classical Ballet Memphis and Tennessee Governor's School for the Arts.
