Memphis Renaissance – Forward Together
Sept. 21 – Levitt Shell 7:00 pm (FREE)
This marks the third year of this creative alliance between New Ballet Ensemble & School, the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, and the Levitt Shell that has drawn thousands to the beautiful Overton Park venue.
This year continues the "Memphis Renaissance" theme - that a diverse community like ours, when it comes together, has a strength and soul that can't be denied. The performance includes the work of ground-breaking black composers Florence Price and William Grant Still, with orchestral favorites from Aaron Copland, Manuel de Falla, and George Gershwin. The Finale presents a landmark work from a Memphis composer that will have our thousands of audience members grooving in the Levitt Shell grass. It's sure to be another inspiring edition of "Memphis Renaissance."
