CITYDANCE | March 29 - April 2, 2021 | 10am-2pm
CityDance is a one-week, tuition-free dance camp for 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th graders currently enrolled in Shelby County Schools. This program is an extension of our mission to provide equitable access to a professional standard of dance training.
During this intensive dance camp, students will train in West African Dance, Hip Hop, and more with guest master teachers Maxx Reed and Nomalanga "Nomi" Eniafe. In addition to a rigorous dance curriculum, the students participate in workshops in which they reflect on the meaning of community and what it means to be the change you wish to see in the world!
To register for CityDance, you must fill out the CityDance 2021 Audition Application. Capacity for the in-person audition is limited to 22 students and will occur at New Ballet’s studio (2157 York Ave) on March 6.
Auditions will be in two groups, with 11 students per group.
The first group will be from 4:45pm-5:30pm
The second group will be from 5:45pm-6:30pm
All students must arrive at least 15 minutes before their session starts. We will assign you a session once you have registered for the audition.
We will select and invite 16 students from this audition to participate in CityDance from March 29-April 2. Invited students must commit to the entire week from 10am-2pm each day.
We will be following strict COVID-19 safety protocols during the audition process. The link to our safety protocols can be found here: New Ballet’s COVID 19 Safety Protocols. Masks must be worn at all times during the audition and in or around New Ballet’s studio. There are no exceptions to this rule, and safety protocols will be strictly enforced.
We look forward to dancing with you!
